The Comfort of Solid Wood

This tray resembles a soft, blooming flower. The gently wavy edge creates an elegant atmosphere that complements both Japanese and Western styles. It enhances your food, like a stage for your dishes. The slightly raised edges create a clean appearance. The underside of the edge is carved, making it easy to insert your fingers and lift.

Artist's recommended maintenance ・If dirt bothers you, wipe with a tightly wrung-out cloth. When washing with water, avoid using detergent.
・If it becomes whitish and flaky, apply vegetable oil to kitchen paper or a cloth. (Walnut oil, safflower oil, perilla oil, etc. Olive oil does not dry.) If the flaky texture is still bothersome, polish it with sandpaper of about 320 grit and apply oil.
・The color will become more beautiful as you use it and take care of it.

Handling precautions
・Because it is handmade, each piece will have slight differences in color, shape, size, thickness, etc., and there will be individual differences. Depending on the part of the wood used, The grain and color will vary depending on the item.
- Recommended for those who want to enjoy the warm texture that can only be achieved through handcrafting, with each item having a different look.
- As the item is finished with walnut oil, oil may seep out when first used. Be careful with white cloths.
- Solid wood can warp due to sudden temperature changes or dry conditions. Placing the item with the back side up and allowing the wood to breathe will help prevent warping.
- Do not place near fire. Overheating can lead to cracks, deformation, and even a fire.
- Oil finishes are not completely water resistant.
- Do not leave the item submerged in water or with wet items inside. Placing wet items inside can cause the item to warp. Stains will appear in about 15 minutes.
- UV rays can cause discoloration, deterioration, and deformation, so please store out of direct sunlight.
- Please note that the edges are prone to chipping.

Aizawa Wood Crafts/KITO

Founded in 1947 in Wajima City, Ishikawa Prefecture, as a woodcarver specializing in lacquerware base materials.

Kiln owner's recommendation for maintenance

-For ceramic materials, soaking the pot in water for a while before use will prevent stains and spots from forming (Medome). For more information, please click here. About cleaning the utensils.
-After use, wash the pot as soon as possible, dry it thoroughly, and store it in a dry place. Insufficient drying may cause mold and odor.
