What are Japanese Cups (Yunomi)?

Japanese cups, known as yunomi, are traditional pieces of Japanese tableware deeply rooted in Japanese tea culture. These cups reflect Japanese aesthetics and craftsmanship, characterized by diverse designs and materials. Yunomi are used not only in everyday life but also in tea ceremonies and special occasions.

Types of Japanese Cups

  • Sencha Yunomi: Small with a wide mouth, these cups are ideal for enjoying green tea. They are commonly used, and most of our products fall into this category.
  • Matchawan: Larger bowls used for preparing matcha in tea ceremonies. They are not commonly used in everyday settings.

Differences by Shape

  • Wide-Mouthed: These cups have a wide opening, making them easy to cool, and are suitable for matcha and cold teas.
