Shigaraki ware is one of Japan's Six Ancient Kilns, produced around Shigaraki Town, Koka City, Shiga Prefecture. The appeal of this ceramic ware lies in the simple texture of the clay, which makes full use of the richness of nature. Using strong clay, the craftsman specializes in large ceramic pieces, such as raccoon dog figurines.
