Things to Know Before Purchasing

The unique character of each piece of pottery is created by mottling, fading, uneven glaze, variations in shade, and warping—things not found in mass-produced items. Handmade pottery often has pinholes, crazing, or distortions, and is not perfectly uniform. Each piece is slightly different in color, size, and shape, and no two pieces are exactly alike. This is the charm of handmade pottery. These are also the unique characteristics of handmade pottery, so enjoy this once-in-a-lifetime encounter. [Individual Differences] Because each piece is handmade, there will be individual differences in shape, size, and color. [Color Variations/Firing Variations] Since the glaze is applied by hand, the application may not be uniform. During firing, temperatures vary depending on the location of the kiln, resulting in uneven firing.
[Other Notes] Once products have passed inspection by the kiln or artist, they are inspected again before being delivered to customers.

Banko Ware

Banko ware is a type of ceramic ware produced in Yokkaichi City, Mie Prefecture. It is known for its pottery pots, which are the number one product in Japan, and traditional teapots. Made from heat-resistant clay, many of the pots are suitable for use in microwaves and over open flames. They have excellent heat retention and insulation properties, allowing food to boil quickly and retain heat for a long time. The far-infrared effect ensures that food is cooked to a mellow finish.
