This mortar and pestle is incredibly easy to use. 
The deep, steep shape prevents ingredients from spilling out and allows them to naturally gather in the center. The inner grooves are individually hand-applied using a special tool. 
The spout is convenient for pouring grated yam or sesame sauce. The wide base and non-slip silicone rubber lining make it easy to mash food steadily.

Handmade pottery is not perfectly shaped, and each piece has slight variations in color, size, and shape, with pinholes, crazing, and distortions.
