Things to Know Before Purchasing

The unique character of each piece is created by features not found in mass-produced items, such as spots, fading, uneven glaze, shading, and shape warping. The charm of handmade pottery lies in the fact that each piece is slightly different in color, size, and shape, and that they are not perfectly uniform, with pinholes, crazing, or distortions. These differences are part of the unique characteristics of handmade pottery, so enjoy these once-in-a-lifetime encounters. [Individual Differences] Since each piece is hand-painted by an artisan, the shading of the pattern will vary from piece to piece. [Color Variations/Firing Variations] Since the glaze is carefully applied by hand, the application may not be uniform, resulting in uneven color. The firing temperature also varies depending on the firing location in the kiln, resulting in uneven firing.
[Other Notes] Once products have passed inspection by the kiln or artist, they are inspected again before being delivered to customers.

It is said to be the first porcelain produced in Japan, and has been widely enjoyed as tableware and crafts for over 400 years. While Arita ware is often associated with its translucent white porcelain and painted designs, there are also many dishes made with vibrant glazes, adding a rich variety of color to your dining table.
