Brighten your dining table

This is an eye-catching plate with boldly painted floral patterns that immediately draw attention.  Against an ivory background, the freely drawn flowers and plants make a striking impression.
Each pattern is uniquely different, individually hand-drawn using the "kakiotoshi" technique.

Note: "Kakiotoshi" is a traditional Japanese ceramic decoration technique where patterns are carved or scratched through a colored slip to reveal the clay body. Made of porcelain, these dishes are delightfully durable and easy to handle.
You'll want to collect a set for family meals and guest entertaining.

A Reliable Piece

At about 5-sun (approximately 6 inches), this versatile size is useful for many occasions.
It's perfect for serving individual portions from main dishes.

The gently rising rim can handle a bit of sauce or liquid.
It also looks lovely with a small sweet treat placed in the center, making the most of the pattern.

Things you should know before purchasing

What creates the expression of a pottery are spots, scratches, unevenness in the glaze, shading, and bending of the shape that cannot be seen in mass-produced products. The charm of handmade pottery is that it may have pinholes, intrusions, distortions, etc., and is not perfectly arranged, but each one is slightly different in color, size, and shape, and no two are exactly the same. Please enjoy this once-in-a-lifetime encounter as these are the unique characteristics of handmade pottery. [Individual differences] Because each item is handmade, there may be individual differences in pattern, shape, size, color shade, etc. [Uneven color/uneven baking] The glaze is carefully applied one by one by hand, so the glaze may not be applied evenly. During firing, the temperature varies depending on the location of the kiln, resulting in uneven firing. [Other notes]
