A teapot with warm character

This uniquely wide-mouthed teapot features a traditional "shiboridashi" (squeeze-out) design. Its subtly lustrous black finish creates an elegant presence.
The interior features a smooth kohiki (white slip) glaze, beautifully accented with scattered black iron spots. The shiboridashi method involves brewing tea without a strainer, instead using grooves carved into the spout to filter the tea leaves while drawing out their rich flavor.
It's ideal for brewing coarsely strained tea, allowing you to enjoy tea with floating tea stems, considered a sign of good fortune.

For leisurely tea moments

When filled to 80%, it holds about 230ml.
This amounts to one large mug plus a little extra, or about two small traditional tea cups.
The wide mouth makes it perfect for brewing display teas, such as blooming flower teas. Its pot-like form makes it equally attractive as a serving item for dishes.
It pairs wonderfully with Chinese-style crispy rice served with piping hot sauce.
The joy of discovering new ways to use it adds to the excitement, sure to enhance your daily moments.

Things you should know before purchasing

What creates the expression of a pottery are spots, scratches, unevenness in the glaze, shading, and bending of the shape that cannot be seen in mass-produced products. The charm of handmade pottery is that it may have pinholes, intrusions, distortions, etc., and is not perfectly arranged, but each one is slightly different in color, size, and shape, and no two are exactly the same. Please enjoy this once-in-a-lifetime encounter as these are the unique characteristics of handmade pottery. [Individual differences] Because each item is handmade, there may be individual differences in shape, size, color, etc. [Uneven color/uneven baking] The glaze is carefully applied by hand, so the glaze is not uniform and the texture may vary, such as glossy or matte. During firing, the temperature varies depending on the location of the kiln, resulting in uneven firing. [Other notes] 〇Some items have glaze splashes. 〇Products that have passed inspection by the pottery and artist are inspected again and delivered to the customer.

Iga ware

Iga ware is a type of ceramic made around Iga City, Mie Prefecture. The soil used is produced from the Old Biwa Lake layer and has a very high fire resistance. Because it is also excellent at storing heat, it is widely used in the production of earthenware pots and heat-resistant tableware. Earthenware pots made from Iga clay, which has a high heat-storing property, do not cool down easily even after being removed from the heat, allowing the ingredients to cook thoroughly, resulting in delicious dishes.
