About the style and atmosphere
Toshin Kiln strives to create new products while preserving tradition. When setting the fire in the kiln, we offer a
prayer: "Imamarashi Misore" (please be born). Utsuwa were born with the blessings of Okinawa's nature and the
passion of their creators. Please raise them with love. Yachimun is Okinawan pottery that gives you a sense of warmth
and a laid-back climate. Yachimun often has uneven glaze application, cracks called intrusions, accumulations of
layered glaze, unevenness, and pinholes. We hope that you will enjoy the tasteful textures of these handmade pottery,
which are not found in mass-produced products.

Tsuboya ware Toshin kiln
After Masakazu Soma trained at Ikutoen in Tsuboya, he built a kiln in Nakama, Onna Village, Okinawa Prefecture in 1975. In 1978, the kiln was moved to Zakimi, Yomitan Village. Until now. While preserving the traditional techniques of Tsuboya ware, we continue to create new works with the motto of "always creating something new," such as unique red glazes, dyeing, fish patterns, and itchin.
