Even though it has been around for a long time, it has a somewhat modern feel

A 6-inch plate with an impressive dotted pattern of "Tobikanna" that shows the skill of handiwork. The surface is slightly glossy, and the bold candy rim really accentuates the atmosphere of the vessel. It has a moderate weight and sense of stability, is durable, and is easy to use, so it will become an indispensable part of your daily dining table. It's easy to pick up and can be stacked, so it's a good idea to have multiple pieces available as serving plates.

Mysteriously matches a wide range of cuisines

The versatile 6-inch plate is a size that is often used throughout the day. Japanese-style pancake breakfast with whipped cream and azuki beans. Chinese stir-fried vegetables with plump shrimp as a side dish for lunch. For dinner, you can spread out shiso leaves and top with steamed chicken salad. The edges are slightly raised, so you don't have to worry about it even if it's a little juicy. Pairing it with light snacks such as rolls and rice balls, or adding Japanese sweets or cream puffs for snack time can be very picturesque. Contrary to its visual impact, it quickly becomes a supporting role when serving food.

About the style and atmosphere

Onta-yaki is characterized by its unique geometric patterns created by traditional techniques such as ``hake-me'', ``flying plane'', and ``comb-painting''. Nowadays, it is gaining popularity due to its traditional yet somewhat modern design. It is a pottery that naturally blends into modern life while retaining its old-fashioned, rustic charm. ■You can also view Ontayaki pottery here. Please find your favorite. Ontayaki list page a>

Ontayaki

It is said that about 300 years ago, the kiln was opened as a separate kiln from Koishiwara ware in Toho Village, Fukuoka Prefecture. Like Koishiwara ware, its most distinctive feature is its unique geometric patterns such as ``hake-me'', ``tobiku'', and ``comb-painted''. It is popular for its orderly yet simple texture that gives you the warmth of handiwork, and has been used as a pottery for everyday use. Since the opening of the kiln, the tradition and techniques have been passed down from parent to child, adhering to the principle of inheritance from one child to the next. Currently, there are 10 potteries, and their pottery techniques have been designated as an important intangible cultural property of the country. It became widely known after Soetsu Yanagi, the leader of the folk art movement, praised it as "the best folk pottery in the world."

What you need to know before purchasing

The appearance of vessels is created by spots, blurs, unevenness of glaze, shading, and deflection of shape, which cannot be found in mass-produced vessels. The charm of handmade vessels lies in the fact that no two vessels are exactly alike, with pinholes, penetrations, distortions, and the like, and that the colors, size, and shape of each piece vary slightly from one to another. The coloring, size, and shape of each piece is slightly different, and the charm of handmade vessels lies in the fact that they are not exactly the same. Individual differences
The finish is relatively uniform, but because it is handmade, there are individual differences in shape, size, color, and so on. Uneven color/uneven firing
Because the glaze is applied by hand, the glaze may not be applied evenly. The firing process is also uneven because the temperature varies depending on the firing location in the kiln. Other Notes
Some pieces have engraving on the reverse side of the piece, while others do not. Please note that we are unable to make any specifications.
