A texture that mixes old-fashioned and modern

The unevenness of the tobikanna is a nice accent and has a fun texture. This rice bowl has a large diameter and is slightly shallow. [A] has a snake's eye pattern on the inside, and [B] has no snake's eye pattern.

Convenient to have together

About the style and atmosphere

Onta-yaki is characterized by its unique geometric patterns created by traditional techniques such as ``Hake-me'', ``Tobikanna'', and ``Kushime''. Nowadays, it is gaining popularity due to its traditional yet somewhat modern design. It is a pottery that naturally blends into modern life while retaining its old-fashioned, rustic charm. Because each item is handmade, some items may look like the ones in the photo. Differences in color, uneven color, and sagging that occur by chance due to firing or hand-shaping create a unique texture unique to pottery. Enjoy this once-in-a-lifetime encounter, as no two items are the same. ■You can also view Ontayaki here. Please find your favorite. Ontayaki list page

Ontayaki

The history of Ontayaki began about 300 years ago. This tradition has continued unbroken in this quiet village in Hita City, Oita Prefecture. There are currently only 10 potteries that have inherited the same flow from when the kilns first opened. The techniques unique to Ontayaki, such as hakeme, tobikanna, and comb painting(kushime), have been carefully passed down from parent to child. The modern and interesting geometric patterns have a mysterious charm that matches any cuisine.
