Even though it has been around for a long time, it has a somewhat modern feel

This is an impressive 5-inch plate with a dotted pattern of "Tobikanna" that shows the skill of handiwork. The fascinating tobikanna pattern matches a wide range of cuisines, including Japanese, Western, Chinese, and ethnic. It has a moderate weight and sense of stability, is durable, and is easy to use, so it will become an indispensable part of your daily dining table. It can also be stacked for storage, so it's convenient to have one for your family and for guests.

Multi-purpose 5-inch plate

Arrange 2-3 spring rolls side by side. It looks delicious even with a whole tomato salad on top. The edges are slightly raised, so you don't have to worry about it even if it's a little juicy. You can also add light meals such as rolls and rice balls, or simply add Japanese sweets or cream puffs for snack time. Contrary to its visual impact, it quickly becomes a supporting role when served with food.

Things you should know before purchasing

What creates the expression of a pottery is things that cannot be seen in mass-produced items, such as spots, scratches, unevenness in the glaze, shading, and bending of the shape. The charm of handmade pottery is that it may have pinholes, intrusions, distortions, etc., and is not perfectly arranged, but each one is slightly different in color, size, and shape, and no two are exactly the same. Please enjoy this once-in-a-lifetime encounter as these are the unique characteristics of handmade pottery. 【Individual difference】 Because each piece is handmade, there are individual differences in shape, size, and thickness. 【pattern】 Because everything is handmade, there may be slight differences in the strength and thickness of the lines, how the pattern is attached, etc. [Other notes] 〇Some items have uneven glaze.

〇The engraving on the back side is different for each item, but please note that we cannot specify this. 〇Products that have passed inspection by the pottery and artist are inspected again and delivered to the customer.

Koishiwara ware

This is a historic kiln that was opened in Toho Village, Fukuoka Prefecture over 300 years ago. Its most distinctive feature is its unique geometric patterns such as ``hake-me'', ``tobikanna'', and ``comb-drawing'(kushime)'. It is popular for its orderly yet simple texture that gives you the warmth of handiwork, and has been used as a pottery for everyday use. With the folk art movement that began in the early 20th century, its existence was once again attracting attention, and the world-renowned British potter Bernard Leach praised it as ``the pinnacle of practical beauty.'' Onta-yaki in Hita City, Oita Prefecture, where the same technique has been passed down, is a sister kiln to Koishiwara-yaki.
